nostalgia.

mallory posted some posters from childhood favourite films and i totally agree!
some other films i watched over and over were the rocky horror picture show and priscilla queen of the desert...
this is very odd looking back and i'm pretty sure they played a large role in how i am today :)

shiny things.

i had an awesome weekend and was oddly productive.
i finally repotted my plants, went to some markets, ate delicious food, partied with my peeps, saw an awesome film, bought an awesome piece of art and exercised!
considering i normally spend 50% of my weekend swigging vodka and the other 50% regretting i swigged vodka, this was an epic win.

i walked to the city on sunday and to my delight, found that the suitcase rummage was on!
as there were at least 365,000 people there, i very swiftly strolled through and one thing caught my eye.
there on the ground in an art folder were some original pieces from amy commins.
i quickly snapped one up and carried it carefully home.
it's watercolour and ink and i love it.

last night my friend and i visited our favourite sushi kotobuki and saw never let me go.
it was amazing, and devestating.
beautiful cinematography.

i also found that catherine campbell's etsy store was updated this morning and treated myself to my new favourite print.
her amazingness never ceases to delight me.

earthlings.

ok, so this is a little heavy.
if you have already seen the film earthlings, go you.
i however am terrified to see it but know that it has to be done.
the day my partner watched this was the last day he ever ate an animal product.
just like that... film + ninety minutes of your time = new outlook on life.
he told me all about it and i almost cried just listening.

it's about speciesism and basically spends the duration of the film opening your eyes to all things bad in the world.
in the interview shaun says "if you contribute to this, you need to watch it. the animals have to feel it, all you have to do is spend ninety minutes seeing it with your eyes".

as a meat eater, i know i owe it to the animals of the world to watch this.

will you see it too?
it's not going to be easy, in fact it's going to be horrible, but i really believe it's important to see it.
it's showing as a charity screening at the tribal theater (old dendy on george street) on wednesday october twentieth.

i have a feeling the next six days will be my last ever meaty ones.
so yeah, i'll let these this clips do the talking.
warning - extremely soul destroying footage. if you eat animals and intend on keeping it that way, probably don't watch these.
