found this sweet clip via nine lives featuring my fav, beastman.

mike lacher.

i had to re-post this letter mishy had on her blog, it's so funny!
comic sans is a truly hideous font, but this is amazing.
it's by a guy called mike lacher who writes and creates hilarious things.
not only did he write this letter but he created the michael buble being stalked by a velociraptor blog (which provides endless hours of amusement) and also created the geocities-izer website which "makes any web page look like a thirteen year old from 1996" made it, which is also, hilarious.
the sites even load amazing midi sounding trashy 90's hits, i love it.

letter from comic sans.

Listen up. I know the shit you've been saying behind my back. You think I'm stupid. You think I'm immature. You think I'm a malformed, pathetic excuse for a font. Well think again, nerdhole, because I'm Comic Sans, and I'm the best thing to happen to typography since Johannes fucking Gutenberg.

You don't like that your coworker used me on that note about stealing her yogurt from the break room fridge? You don't like that I'm all over your sister-in-law's blog? You don't like that I'm on the sign for that new Thai place? You think I'm pedestrian and tacky? Guess the fuck what, Picasso. We don't all have seventy-three weights of stick-up-my-ass Helvetica sitting on our seventeen-inch MacBook Pros. Sorry the entire world can't all be done in stark Eurotrash Swiss type. Sorry some people like to have fun. Sorry I'm standing in the way of your minimalist Bauhaus-esque fascist snoozefest. Maybe sometime you should take off your black turtleneck, stop compulsively adjusting your Tumblr theme, and lighten the fuck up for once.

People love me. Why? Because I'm fun. I'm the life of the party. I bring levity to any situation. Need to soften the blow of a harsh message about restroom etiquette? SLAM. There I am. Need to spice up the directions to your graduation party? WHAM. There again. Need to convey your fun-loving, approachable nature on your business' website? SMACK. Like daffodils in motherfucking spring.

When people need to kick back, have fun, and party, I will be there, unlike your pathetic fonts. While Gotham is at the science fair, I'm banging the prom queen behind the woodshop. While Avenir is practicing the clarinet, I'm shredding "Reign In Blood" on my double-necked Stratocaster. While Univers is refilling his allergy prescriptions, I'm racing my tricked-out, nitrous-laden Honda Civic against Tokyo gangsters who'll kill me if I don't cross the finish line first. I am a sans serif Superman and my only kryptonite is pretentious buzzkills like you.

It doesn't even matter what you think. You know why, jagoff? Cause I'm
famous. I am on every major operating system since Microsoft fucking Bob. I'm in your signs. I'm in your browsers. I'm in your instant messengers. I'm not just a font. I am a force of motherfucking nature and I will not rest until every uptight armchair typographer cock-hat like you is surrounded by my lovable, comic-book inspired, sans-serif badassery.

Enough of this bullshit. I'm gonna go get hammered with Papyrus

extra curricular.

i spent a good hour in melbourne's mag nation on monday trying to make a decision on what flight reading material to buy (much to my sister's intense despair), it's a very important decision you know!
anyway just as i'd decided on the new yen, i approached the counter to pay and found a pretty little mag sitting there called extra curricular.
a quick browse through the pages and yen was back on the shelf, ec was coming home with me :)
the mag is a new zealand based publication and i was delighted to discover many new and wonderful kiwi illustrators and jewellery designers.
so hooked right now, check it out!

i lay my hat and wish to stay.

i love seeing inside other people's homes.
i can sit here all day and look at decorating blogs and sneak peaks, dreaming of a place i'd like to one day own.
timber floors, inspiration walls, shelves of old vinyls and books, natural light, soft bedding... i love it all.
so i was fairly over-joyed when i found
i lay my hat and wish to stay, a blog of pretty homes.

crtten.

i love love love this connect the dots postcard from crtten (found via the eiffel).
it sort of reminds me of the 2010 calendar i made.
connect the dots is totally making a come back :)

breakfast out.

of all the meals to dine out on, breakfast is by far my favourite!
what better way to start the day then sitting in a cosy cafe with fresh chai and letting someone else cook for you!?
or even better, being able to go about your day and leave the dishes for someone else!
yep, i love love love going out for breakfast.

of course i had a small fit when mishy put me on to breakfast out.
a whole website of breakfast reviews, pics, maps and general goodness (all within a super cool site design).
sadly brisbane is not included, but i still spent a solid hour or so looking up places in melbourne for my trip in two weeks :)
breakfast out, i love you.

dottie angel.

oh my gosh, seesaw just introduced me to dottie angel and i am in love.
the pictures on this blog are soooooooo perfect.
i have just devoured about two hundred of them and had to seriously force myself to only post fifteen of them on here.
my goal in life is to have a home that looks this nice, and warm, and sweet and comforting :)
