weekend and week ahead.

good morning :)
how was your weekend?
mine was wonderful.
i won't bore you with every mundane detail, but it included;

• a new oliver wilde book
• lot's of chai latte's (so obsessed at the moment)
• the lovely kelvin grove markets
• an afternoon with my family, which i don't get to do often enough!
• craft club - i managed to spend no time crafting and most of the day eating apple tea cake and playing nintendo (craft fail)
• lot's of good dvd's, my favourite being the reader, with kate winslet - such an amazing film!

now i am back in work world which is not much fun at all.
i have so much to do.
currently getting some things together for my mum's new cafe, cafe ella.
re-branding a whole business turns out to be pretty time consuming.
i've never built a website before so it's a slow mission but i finally got the temporary page up last week :)


as soon as i get these business cards off to print i am onto a logo design for my friend corey.


as soon as i finish i will come straight back here and post pretty things... i am officially addicted to blogging.

it seems people agree with me and have bought all the little dears for themselves.

not to worry, the pictures on olivia's blog cheered me up tremendously.

i am so inspired to make something out of felt!

time has been flying by at a tremendous speed lately.

i can't believe tomorrow is friday again!

i love fridays.

fridays mean avoiding work at all costs, long lunches at the pub and early breaks if i'm good :)

this weekend is going to be a treat.

thanks to the heads up from danielle over at craft laboratory, tomorrow night i am going to the little market, at the avid reader bookshop.

ourbrisbane.com tells me;

"The Little Market at Avid is a monthly gathering of artists and crafters, coming together to create a new space to bring their handmade works to the local community.

Each month sees up to twelve craft artists set up stalls out the back of the Avid Reader Bookstore in West End, providing an opportunity for the broader community to purchase locally made handcrafted goods, be inspired to celebrate their own creativity, support the development of more community endeavors and be part of the craft revolution!, all while enjoying the company of friends, some half decent wine and often local music.

The Little Market has been going since late 2006, and takes place on the last Friday of the month."

saturday morning i will be rummaging around for a bargain the the jungle jumble garage sale in paddington!

it is said there will be great treasures to unlock, and also, going to this gives me an excuse to do all the paddington op shops :)

other goals for the weekend include sleeping in, going to my dads house warming party, stopping in at my new faaaaaaaaavourite homewares store kim and judi at coorparoo and most importantly, photographing the zillion awesome things i have bought lately.

i just got home from late night shopping... i went for groceries... i came home with a (beautiful!!!) set of maxwell williams canisters, hair dye and a silver chain... and no groceries... how does this happen every time?

anyway, enough mindless ramble from me, it's bed time!

work excursion.

i just got back from my work excursion.
us designers got the special treat of being taken to see the new world press photo exhibition at the brisbane powerhouse, it was amazing.
i love the annual world press photo exhibition almost as much as i love the powerhouse, that's a lot of love.
the exhibition was intense, too say the least.
there were a lot of photos of war torn countries, flood/hurricane victims, riots and poverty which was incredibly confronting.
not everything was doom and gloom though, my two favorite pieces included crazy close up animal eyes and a tree captured throughout changing seasons.
it's one of those exhibitions that you walk away from but don't stop thinking about for days, which are the best kind.



next stop was burger urge.
this place is easily my favorite burger joint in brisbane.
every time i try to pick a new burger but i just can't go past the lamb, haloumi and pesto. *drool*
the vego version is portabello mushroom with roast capsicum and haloumi, yuuuuum.
the chips are equally drool worthy, hand cut in regular or sweet potato and served with the tastiest aioli!
top that with a black cherry cola and i'm done.




and now i'm supposed to concentrate on work?

alicia who blogs the aforementioned bread and honey is an incredibly talented artist who does really beautiful graphite drawings.

i don't remember how i stumbled across bread and honey but i am glad i did.
it is possibly the most down to earth cooking blog i have even had the pleasure of laying my eyes on.
the recipes are awesome and the photography a treat but alicia's (bread and honey maker) sense of humor is what i really keep going back for.

"Look, I'm not even going to bother looking up a recipe for this or pretending like I know anything about spanish rice, so spare me your "MY MEXICAN GRANDMA DOES IT LIKE THIS, AND YOU ARE DOING THIS WRONG, BLAH BLAH BLAH." I don't care- this is how we make it, it tastes good in our burritos."
